Conversations at The Edge

(ROUND ONE NOW FULL!)

If you’ve followed the link to this page, chances are, something resonated with you in my invitation to join this group. You may not have come across something like this before, so here is some more information on what to expect:

I invite you to join me in co-inquiry into topics that can relate to the questions: “Do you feel like something is out of kilter with the world today?”; “Is there something you are noticing about the world which doesn’t sit quite right with you?” It is a chance to be in conversation with a small group of people. You’ll be encouraged to explore your own first-person insights and we will discuss the topics more broadly together; finding points of connection between our individual inquiries.

This is for you if:

You are thinking or feeling as though something is out of balance. It might be a feeling that we’ve gone too far in one direction perhaps. Or you may have questions about how the world works today; they are likely driven by personal experiences and you are keen to explore those questions further with a group of likeminded individuals.

Questions could include the following topics as examples, but are not confined or limited to:

  • Climate change; the world’s response today and the uncertainty of the future
  • Capitalism, productivity and economic inequality
  • The distribution of power and voice across the world
  • The humanitarian crises
  • Patriarchy and its impacts on our daily lives today
  • The rapid advance of the technology and AI
  • The tension between real life and screen time — connection and disconnection, nature and online.

The details:

The group will be intentionally small – maximum 5-6 people – it will be a safe and trusted space to have these conversations.

We will meet up to 6 times, (minimum of 3) depending on appetite; the sessions will be approximately 3 hours, once a month, following a typical cyclic action research approach; whereby periods of action are followed by periods of reflection.

We’ll meet in person in the Market Harborough area, outdoors whenever possible — walking, sitting in nature, and later in the year, gathering around a fire.

Exact times, dates and locations TBC once we have the group; and will be flexible to the needs of the participants.

When will we start? ASAP – as soon as we have a group together and are available to meet. August or September.

What on earth is Action Research, anyway?

It is research WITH others, with the intention of driving positive transformative change (action!) in some way. Participants become co-researchers and together we are in conversation; we decide together what our question is, and where we want to go next.

In human speak; a group of likeminded people get together to chat about some interesting topics, and then we decided if/what/how we are going to do about it.

My advice:

Follow your gut instinct and give it a go! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. And there will be wine for the fireside gatherings, naturally.
